Week 3 Sources

So another day another blog. I liked this week's reading, especially the long list of sources. I talked to my director at the library and he was interested in taking a look at them. So this week at work I am going to share the list with him. Hopefully he can find some ideas or concepts that he wants to add to the library.

I have not started on my source monitoring, life has been crazy lately that it just slipped my mind. I am going to start and I will make sure that I let you all know as soon as I have.

I know my normal posts are long and full of witticisms, but this week will have to be kind of bland. Life around my house has been chaotic, plus I picked up more hours at my job. I will try to be my normal upbeat self with the next post.

As normal, until we meet again you crazy library people.

Did You Notice My Cool Additions??

Hey All!

Yet another post- except this one is completely random and not related to anything!
I thought that my blog needed some sprucing up so I added....(drum roll) GADGETS!!! Woohoo! I know you are all stunned by my awesomeness! Just jokin'- kind of.

Notice the fish gadget. This is awesome 'cause you can feed the fish! No joke! Try it just click in the box and it will dish out fish food. It's quite cool.

On the right hand side I have humorous quotes- I mean because who doesn't love a good laugh? Or if you don't you should- it keeps you young, just sayin'. And underneath the humorous quotes are humorous animal pictures! I know TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!

At the bottom is a cook it feature. I love to cook and I figured I could share that with you by putting something on my page that helps you get recipes. Enjoy!

And finally we come to the serious part of the page. On the right is a daily Psalm from the Bible. That is more for me than anyone. I am a follower of Christ and I enjoy reading his word, so this will be nice for me to look at. Next to the verse is a quote from Confucius. He was one wise guy that Confucius.

Well, that's it. I hope you like my awesome gadgets- but if you don't that's ok 'cause I like them!

You have a wonderful filled day of laughter and good stuff and I will promise the next post will be all about school.

That is all.

Wikis...

So this week it was all about learning how to use Wikis. I have to say that at first glance I was a bit nervous about using a wiki, but after reading the orientation, I think I'll do fine. Plus the Wikis in Plain English video was great. It really helped me understand fully what a "Wiki" is.

Ok, so to the questions that we are supposed to consider...

In regards to telling others or advising others on using Wikipedia, I have always told them it is a great jumping off point in research projects (or for fun). I also try to remember to tell them that the site can be edited by anyone so it's always a good idea to check the information using other trusted sources.

I personally have never edited a Wikipedia. I have seriously thought about, but have been to lazy to do it. I have thought of creating a bogus page on my best friend several times- I'm thinking it would be a great April Fool's joke. If I do I will be sure to post the link! :)

Wiki syntax, wiki syntax...I'm still not sure if I understand but I guess practice makes it perfect huh? And unfortunately I do not know HTML- but I am hoping to change this gross negligence of mine.

I think that a Wiki would be kind of cool to have for my library. But I guess a website is good enough. When I am not working at my beloved library, I work at a school after hours as a before and after school facilitator with a Recreation department. (I'm not allowed to give out the Park's or the School's information due to privacy issues.) Since the school I work at is part of a larger group of schools and connected to the Park's department I think it would be neat to have a Wiki for that. The Wiki could be a page for each school or a main page that links to other pages. Who knows- maybe this will happen.

Okay, so this concludes my very great post. I know that you all have been crazily impressed- I do try. :P

One final thought: Did anyone else think the Wikis in Plain English was funny? I totally cracked up! If all tutorials were that cool then we would all be proficient in everything!

Peace Out all you crazy library people! Until next session!

I would like to be either proficient or on my way to becoming proficient in as many areas of technology. Also I would love to be able to finally understand HTML markup and RSS languages. I have always been curious about them, but never understood them. Hopefully I will be able to meet these goals and any others I may develop.

Hey everyone! I’m Tifarah. I live in Fortville, Indiana with my grandparents, cousin, dog and cat. A cool thing about where I live is it is a small town. We literally only have one stoplight. I work at the library just a little ways away from said stoplight. I love working in a small town library because I really get to develop relationships with the patrons that come in.

Not only do I work at the library, but I work at a school in Carmel as an after school facilitator. I really enjoy working with the children. Not only am I touching their lives, but they are touching mine as well. It’s really quite cool.

In my sparse free time I like to read and listen to music. I have started to drift towards bands and authors that aren’t conventional. (Yes, I’m one of those people.) I really like music and books that really make you think.

The photo that you see was taken about a year ago. I was at Target with my best friend and we decided to try on the hats to see how “awesome” we looked. I think we looked great!
